Story

World-class regional rail for B.C. isn’t just desirable—it’s within reach.  We are laying the groundwork to demonstrate that regional rail is feasible, impactful, and worth the investment. Regional rail will dramatically cut commute times, outcompete driving times, and help reduce carbon emissions, making it a crucial step in combating climate change.

The Vision: A regional rail network that connects the South Coast faster than driving. Commuters can skip traffic, reduce their carbon footprint, and enjoy reliable, stress-free travel. World-class regional trains would reduce pollution, while helping to ease congestion and improve quality of life across the region. It would also promote dense, transit-oriented communities and spur the construction of a wider range of housing options.

Our Role: We aren’t building the tracks, but we’re working hard to build the case for them. Our work focuses on research and advocacy, providing the evidence, data, and strategic outreach necessary to demonstrate the merits of regional rail to decision-makers, stakeholders, and the public. Through these efforts, we aim to show that regional rail is a practical, cost-effective solution for B.C.’s transportation future.

The Investment: Estimated to cost at least $10 billion, implementing regional rail requires substantial public and private investment. Our mission is to show how this investment will not only pay off in terms of convenience and sustainability but also deliver long-term economic benefits for groups like developers and pension fund financiers all while fostering economic reconciliation for First Nations.

Why We Need You: By supporting our work, you’re directly contributing to the groundwork necessary to move this project forward. Your donations will help fund staff time for research, feasibility studies, and advocacy required to convene communities, experts, and decision-makers around this cause. Together, we can demonstrate that regional rail is the future of fast, green, and efficient transportation on the South Coast.
